I’m not sure why Wickham felt she had to adopt a pseudonym, but her books as Sophie Kinsella are much more enjoyable—this one was lacking the effervescence, humor, and general wackiness I’ve come to love her for.

No worries, this whole book is confusing.

I’m a little sorry I read this one which I think was her first. It’s as if she was up against a deadline and just decided to stop writing. Not recommended unless you’re determined to read everything by this talented author.

Liz and Jonathan have uprooted their family and left their beloved home to pursue a dream — running a tutorial college. Anthea, I think, meant well, but she really didn’t know how to go about motivating her sons. I enjoy quick-read Chicklit, but this one simply stunk. This did not fall into that category. In the midst of reading this novel I finally came to realize and accept that all these characters are simply pathetic; then I was able to enjoy the novel for what it was — a train-wreck only slightly entertaining.
